Reconnecting refreshes an account's authorization **without creating a new account identity**. The account keeps its history, its jobs, and its place in your organization.

## When to reconnect

- The account shows `reauthorization_required`: a grant expired or was revoked.
- You need extra scopes. The common case is Instagram insights: a connection made for publishing only does not carry the insights scopes, and the insights endpoint requires them.
- The member who held the only valid authorization left the organization.

## How to reconnect

1. Open **Social accounts** and find the account.
2. Choose Reconnect. The platform (Meta or X) runs its consent screens again.
3. Approve. The new grant replaces the expired one, with whatever scopes you approved.

## Scopes are per authorization

Each member's authorization tracks its own granted scopes. Several members can authorize the same account, and the account works as long as at least one valid grant exists. That is why one person leaving does not take the account down.
