title: "Connect Instagram"
description: "Connect an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) through Meta's secure OAuth authentication flow."

## What you need

An Instagram **professional account**: Business or Creator. Personal accounts cannot publish through the API. Meta requires the professional account for its publishing surface.

## Connect it

1. Open **Social accounts** in the dashboard and choose Connect Instagram.
2. Meta runs its own login and consent screens. Approve the requested permissions there.
3. Meta sends you back to InvisibleAPI. The account appears in your organization's social account list, ready to publish.

Your tokens are encrypted at rest and never appear in any API response. InvisibleAPI keeps the long-lived token refreshed, so you do not manage expiry yourself.

## What you can publish

Images, carousels (mixed images and videos), and videos. Videos publish as Reels. Media is supplied as public URLs in the publish job.

## Good to know

- The connected account counts as a **source** in billing: $9 a month covers 2 sources, each additional source adds $5 a month.
- The account belongs to your organization, not to you personally. See [Account rules and constraints](/docs/social-accounts/account-constraints/).
- If you plan to use Instagram insights, the connection needs the insights scopes. You can add them later with a [reconnect](/docs/social-accounts/reconnect-and-scopes/).
